On March 6th, Jack Lawson, formerly of Millvale and Glenshaw, PA passed away in Biloxi, MS.
He was a devoted husband to his wife Betty (deceased) and is survived by his two sons, Dennis, of Allison Park, and Jeffrey (Alice) of Biloxi, MS.
His 1944 high school yearbook summed up his lifelong love of music. It read, "His clarinet has brought him praise, just as his general amiability has won him many friends."
Immediately upon his graduation from Millvale High, Class of 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. On his passing at age 90, he was one of the few remaining WWII Airmen who served under fire in the liberation of the Philippine Islands.
He always fondly remembered his boyhood friends who called themselves the Bauerlein Alley gang. Of the six members, three were lost in the war, one other was badly wounded and only he and his buddy "Nerbs" survived.
After returning from the war in 1946, he worked for four decades with the Graybar Electric Company, and was one of its top salesmen. His happy retirement years were spent in Florida, Pennsylvania and Mississippi.
Interment with military honors will take place at 10:00 a.m. on March 22nd at the Biloxi National Cemetery. Memories may be shared at www.riemannfamily.com.
