Ira S. McKay, age 90, of Lizana, passed away on April 10, 2013, in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oley E. McKay, his mother, Sedonia McKay, and his siblings, Oley ""T.O."" McKay, Johnny McKay, Elvin McKay, Ellis McKay, and Ethel McKay Parker.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Gussie ""Babe"" McKay, his children, Jimmy McKay and his wife Judy, of Lizana, Linda McKay Otillio, of Slidell, LA, and Theresa McKay Ladner and her husband Odie Wayne, of Necaise Crossing, 4 grandchildren, Jimmy McKay, Jr., Sammi Fazzio Copeland, Trevor Ladner, and Trent Ladner, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mr. McKay served as a Tec 4 in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from the Gulfport VA Hospital and DuPont DeLisle Plant. He also worked for the Harrison County Sheriff's Office while working at the Gulfport VA. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Lizana and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. McKay enjoyed hunting and listening to his grandchildren play music.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 14, 2013, from 5 - 8 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Monday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Lizana, where friends may visit from 9 - 10 am.
Interment will be in Ladner Cemetery, Esther Road, Lizana.
