Hugh Blake Craig Ray, fondly known as Blake, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Pass Christian, Mississippi, at the age of 30. Born on June 12, 1995, in Mathiston, Mississippi, Blake was a cherished son, father, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity.
Blake dedicated his life to serving others, utilizing his skills as a handyman and electrician. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed helping people in his community. In addition to his work, Blake spent invaluable time assisting his father at the Sacred Space, Inc. homeless shelter, where he made meaningful contributions to those in need.
Blake's interests were diverse; he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and swimming. These hobbies brought him peace and happiness, enriching his life and the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his father, Christopher D. Ray of Greenville, MS; his two daughters, Brinleigh Marie Ray and Ava Mae Ray of Mathiston, MS; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Kathy Shaffer of Mathiston; and his siblings; Linzi Ann Roberts Boyd (Samuel) of Florence, MS, Mary-Alisa Kali Hilton of Florence, Christopher Bailey Ray of Oktibbeha County, MS, Anthony Skyler Ray of Oktibbeha County, and Matthew Daniel Ray of Eupora, MS. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Joe Broadway of Florence, MS; step-father, Don Hilton, Jr. of Florence; step-mother, Sherry Hilton of Florence; aunts, Ellen Aldridge of Pass Christian, MS, Melinda Ray of Ackerman, MS, and Melessa Dunagin of Ackerman; uncles, Robbie Shaffer of Mathiston and Mike Ray of Eupora, MS; as well as his nephew, Elijay Broadway of Florence, and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Blake was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Shaffer Hilton; his sister, Karie Anna Gordon Broadway; and his paternal grandparents, Patricia Ray and Lloyd Ray.
He will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family and the positive impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of compassion and joy will endure in the hearts of all who loved him. The family will plan a memorial service to be held at a later date.
