Hugh Norman O'Neal

February 14, 1941 — November 9, 2013

Master Chief Hugh ""Hughie"" O'Neal, Jr, U.S. Navy, Ret, born on February 14, 1941 in Sterling, CO to Hugh, Sr and Wilma Wisdom O'Neal, passed away on November 9, 2013 in Gulfport.
Hugh graduated from Sterling High School and worked in the oil fields until enlisting in the Navy in June, 1962. He was aboard the USS Frontier as a storekeeper.
He married Barbara Mari in Sterling, CO on February 16, 1963 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He left the Navy in 1965, moved back to Sterling, where he worked until reenlisting in the Navy Seabees. He retired after 32 years of service to our country as a Master Chief Equipment Operator. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh, Sr and Wilma O'Neal and a brother in law, Floyd Acre.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara O'Neal of McHenry; and his son, Ty O'Neal (Leona) and his granddaughter, Laura, of Perkinston.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home chapel. Burial with military honors will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Biloxi National Cemetery.
