Howard George Olsen, born on April 3, 1946, peacefully departed this life on July 1, 2025, at the age of 79. With a legacy filled with love and unwavering spirit, Howard was a remarkable man whose presence touched the lives of many throughout his journey.

A proud veteran, Howard served in the military before embarking on a diverse career that included numerous jobs, demonstrating his resilience and adaptability in various fields. He was a dedicated member of several organizations, including the Elks Lodge 978, American Legion, and Disabled Veterans of America, reflecting his commitment to service, community, and camaraderie.

Education formed an important foundation for Howard, as he graduated high school in Rugby, ND and continued to learn and grow in his personal and professional life. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, which included rock collecting and building intricate structure models. He found joy and solace in these interests, often sharing the wonders of nature and craftsmanship with those around him.

Howard is survived by his loving children, Shane Olsen, Duane (Prapha) Olsen, James (Julie) Pickett, Robin (Kevin Haldeman) Stewart, as well as his daughter-in-law, Tina Holmes-Hall. Howard took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Kelsey (Mathew) Prevette, Kyle Olsen, Jillian (Weldon Guttierrez) Hill, Kelsie (Bryan) Hall, Cameron Pickett, Amanda (Wendell) Stewart, and Melysa (Blake) Davitz, and his role of great-grandfather to Maverick Prevette, Weldon Guttierrez, Sutton Hall, Izabela, Adam, and Kylina. He cherished his sister, Beatrice Purtee; his brother, Brian (Sandy) Olsen; and his nieces and nephews, Steve Schmitt, Brenda Schmitt, Keri (Dave) Medford, Karl (Taylor) Olsen, Tyler (Brittany) Olsen; and great-nephews, Everett, and Maverick Olsen.

Howard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Joan Olsen, and his son, John Pickett. Their memories will carry forward in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A visitation honoring Howard's life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS.

Howard George Olsen's incredible journey has left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was truly an amazing man who was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
