Howard Brooks McWhorter was born on September 26th 1929 to Clifton and Esther R.L. McWhorter in Kosciusko, MS. He was born into eternal life on December 31st 2012.
His life was marked by service to God, Country, Family and Community. A 30 year veteran of the Navy Dental Corps, , he retired to private life in Biloxi, MS in 1983. While in Biloxi, ,he served the Lord at the First Baptist Church of Biloxi as a Deacon as well as a volunteer in many church programs supporting the seniors' ministry. In 2006, he and his loving wife moved to Mobile AL where he spent the final years of his life surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Maude McWhorter; children Cliff McWhorter, David McWhorter and wife Stacy, and Amy McWhorter Smith and husband David; Grandchildren Maggie, Michael, Joey, Allyson McWhorter, Bethany and Chase Smith and Wayne and Lindsay Blackwood (nee Smith) and great-grandchildren Lily McWhorter, Michael and Kaylyn Blackwood.
Brooks as he was known to all, had a true servants heart. Whenever and wherever he saw a need, he did what he could to fill it.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, January 4 in the funeral home chapel. The Procession will leave at 10:45 a.m. for the Graveside Service at with Military Honors at the National Cemetery in Biloxi.
