Senior Chief Howard S. Matsuba, USCG, Ret., 62 of Gulfport, died February 21, 2006 in Gulfport.
Mr. Matsuba was a native of Denver, CO and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1992.He retired from the United States Coast Guard after 20 years of service and later retired from Civil Service at the CB Base. He served as a a volunterr fireman while living in Kittery, MA
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kiyoshi and Fuyuko Matsuba; sister, Ruby Matsuba; grandchildren, Hailey and Cole; and an aunt, Hatsuko Matsuba.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Matsuba; 2 children: Bret Matsuba and wife Susie and Tracey Owen and husband Kurtis all of Gulfport; 2 brothers: Ron Matsuba, Gulfport and Stan Matsuba and wife Cheryl of San Ramon, CA; 2 grandchildren: Morgan and Madison Owen; niece, Chelsea Matsuba; and 2 sisters-in-law: Nancy King, Limirick, MA and Phyllis King, Gulfport.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, February 25, 2006 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Depew Rd., Gulfport where friends may visit 30 minutes prior to the service.
