Howard “Dale” Smith Jr., age 62, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, surrounded by love.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Dale Smith, Sr.; and his mother, Connie Jo Smith.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Collins-Smith; his children, Nicholle Smith and Shauntelle Smith; his stepchildren, Britny Charboneau (Ben) and Sgt Geddy Roberts, US Army (Ret.) (Olivia); brother, Michael "Scott" Smith; grandchildren, Raelyn Mathis, Addelynn and Lailyn Williams, Rowen "Dale" Smith, Remy Turner, October "Tobi" Migues, Marilyn Roberts, and Kayden "Jax" Smith; an uncle and 2 aunts; and numerous cousins and other family members.
He dedicated his life to his work as the president of his family business, Howard Smith Equipment Service, where he served as a proud third-generation leader. Dale loved his job dearly, finding joy in serving his customers and supporting his employees.
Dale was known for his meticulous nature; he always carried a brush to keep his hair neatly styled. His infectious smile, highlighted by rosy, red cheeks, had the unique ability to light up any room he entered. Friends and loved ones could often be greeted by his pleasant aroma, as he always took care to smell his best.
Outside of work, Dale had many hobbies and interests. He had a great passion for classic cars, particularly his cherished 1969 Camaro. He eagerly anticipated events like Cruisin the Coast, where he looked forward to "smoking the tires." Dale also adored spending time with his grandchildren and his beloved wife. He found peace visiting the mountains and often enjoyed relaxing in a hot tub with a drink in hand while scrolling through Tik Tok.
Dale's spirit, his laughter, and his dedication to family, work, and life will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held for Dale on January 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport, Mississippi, followed by a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. He will then be laid to rest at Conn Cemetery in Long Beach, Mississippi.
