Hollis F. "Bill" Sumner

Hollis F. ""Bill"" Sumner, age 96 and a resident of Biloxi passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014 in Biloxi.
Mr. Sumner was born in Collins, MS on June 26, 1918 and was a longtime resident of Biloxi. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from the Air Force with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, and later retired from the Harrison County Family Court as court clerk. Mr. Sumner was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed playing golf and played religiously three days a week at the Dogwood Hills Golf Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy Sumner; his parents, Charles L. Sumner and Mattie Wells Sumner; and his sisters, Earlene Hill, Callie Mae Baggett, and Polly Gatewood.
Mr. Sumner is survived by his sister, Jessie Sanford of Seminary, MS; and several nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
The family would like to thank the staff of Emeritus of Biloxi for their care and kindness to Mr. Sumner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. (www.heart.org)
Friends are invited to visit from 10:30 a.m. until the service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
