Hilda E. Franz, age 86, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Franz was born in Greenville, Illinois to the late Rev. Finley and Catherine Daub Worthy. She was a member of Long Beach United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women's Club. She also was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority, the Rockhound Club, and the Busy Bees. She worked at Popp's Ferry Elementary School in the cafeteria and was in the PTA while her daughter was in school, before going to work at Gayfer's in the furniture department.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Raymond L. Franz; two brothers and a sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Sue """"Becky"""" Franz of Gulfport and longtime special friend, W.E. """"Bill"""" Billington of Ocean Springs.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Long Beach United Methodist Church Building Fund, 208 Pine Street, Long Beach, MS 39560.
