Hershel Olon Ladner, age 89, passed away Friday, January 8, 2015 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dona and Lemuel Ladner, and his brother, Otho Ladner.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Bessie Ladner; son Hershel Ladner (Mary) of Long Beach, MS; daughter Linda Ladner of Gulfport, MS; grandchildren Catherine Miles (Jonny) of Milford, NJ, Phillip Ladner (Angie) of Madison, MS; 5 great-grandchildren McCaslin, Callaghan, and Sloan Miles, and Lily Grace and Judah Blue Ladner.
Mr. Ladner was a Navy Veteran who served in WWII. He retired from the Biloxi VA as Chief X-ray Technician and CW4 Officer with the Army Reserve. He served as Commander of Joe Graham American Legion Post 119, Department Commander and National Executive Committeeman of American Legion. He was a life member of the V.F.W., Director of the Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, and a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dodge Scholarship Fund at Grace Memorial Baptist Church, 2412 23rd Ave., Gulfport, MS 39501. Special thanks to Dr. Stephanie Fussell and Jeannie Sciacca at Kare In Home.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13th from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport.
