Hershel Chambliss, 84, of Gulfport, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in Gulfport.
Mr. Chambliss was a veteran of the U.S. Army, driving an ammunition truck in Korea. He retired as an electrician after 42 years and was a loyal and faithful member for 60+ years in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, #903. He was an avid supporter of Gulfport athletics and was a long-standing member of the Hardwood Basketball Club for GHS. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Chambliss was a devoted husband for almost 58 years. He was also a caring father and loving grandfather. Survivors include his 3 children, Gail Chambliss, Mike (Cindy) Chambliss and David (Angie) Chambliss; his grandchildren, Jake Chambliss, Taylor Chambliss, Mandy Chambliss and Abby Chambliss; his sisters, Doris (Eugene) Dewease, Nina Desmond and Linda Murray; his brother, Eudale (Joan) Chambliss and other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine, and his parents, Aubrey and Rozella Chambliss.
The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to Dr. Baroudi and the staff at the Coast Heart Institute and Dr. Varner at Medical Oncology Group for their loving care and concern throughout the years.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior on Monday, April 20th at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
