Henry Sinclair Price passed away at the age of 22 on 29 September 2015 in Sasebo, Japan.
Henry was born in Ocean Springs, Mississippi on the Day of the Epiphany, 6 January 1993 to Karen Epperson Price and James A Price. He is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, David Hestle Epperson and Ruzena (Rose) Jedlickova Epperson, and paternal grandfather, James Edward Price.
Henry grew up in Long Beach MS and graduated with Honors from Long Beach High School in 2011.
Although Henry received an academic scholarship to Mississippi State University, he decided to postpone his planned studies in Engineering and utilize the GI Bill.
He enlisted in the US Navy on 18 May 2011. Following graduation from Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes, IL in May 2012, he then reported to SWOS in Great Lakes, where he was meritoriously advanced to Seaman due to his superior performance.
Fireman Price reported for duty on the USS BonHomme Richard (LHD 6) on 17 August 2012. He advanced to Non-commissioned Officer at the rank of E4, ultimately advancing to E5, MM2 (SW/AW). Recently, he had been made a trainer in Engineering, and he was respected and trusted by all who worked with him. Henry had been awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy ""E"" Ribbon x2, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon x3, Navy & Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon x3, and the Navy Pistol Marksmanship Medal.
Henry, while at sea, visited many, many countries in the Far East. He often hiked mountains and volcanoes, including the ""Three Holy Mountains"" (Fujisan, Hakusan, and Tateyama), and explored many of the other natural wonders of Japan as well with his sister and with friends.
Henry was an avid and early reader, having often taken books away from his mother as a child and reading them himself to her. A chess champion to be feared, he loved owls, and had compassion for all living things.
Possessed of a keen sense of humor, and a calm and easy nature, Henry was a dedicated runner and cyclist, and disciplined to health and fitness from the age of 13. He pursued distance courses in earth sciences, was vigorously researching colleges at the time of his passing, and spoke often of his plans for his future, now tragically cut short.
He is survived by his mother, Karen Epperson Price of Long Beach MS; father, James Andrew Price of Louisville KY; sister, Hannah Price of Long Beach MS, currently living in Ishikawa, Japan; brother, Arthur Price of Long Beach MS; paternal grandmother, Ruth Hoagland Price of Louisville KY; aunts and uncles of Long Beach MS, Louisville KY; many beloved cousins in the Czech Republic and Mississippi, and a wealth of true friends, comrades and sailors who mourn the loss of this bright and brilliant soul who had so much more to accomplish and contribute in this troubled world.
