He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry C. Odenwald, Sr and Lois Vitarelli Odenwald; his brothers, Paul Odenwald, Charles Odenwald, and Billy Odenwald. Henry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gaetanna Odenwald; his children, Michael J. Odenwald and David J. Odenwald; his grandchildren, Patrick J. Odenwald, and Jeremy S. Walters; and his siblings, Patrick (Phyllis) Vitarelli, and Kathy (Frank) Sonsini.
Henry was born August 16, 1933, in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. He also served in the U. S. Army. Henry worked as an FAA Air Traffic Controller, a teacher and coach at Picayune High School and he worked at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport. He was a long time Youth League Baseball coach. Henry was also a member of the Knights of Colombus.
The family would like to thank friends and family for the expressions of sympathy and thoughtfulness. It is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the seventh-floor nurses for all the kindness and care they showed for Henry.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 10 - 11 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am in the church.Saturday, June 15, 2024
