Henry Louis Occhi, age 98, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017 in Gulfport, MS.
Mr. Occhi served as Captain for the US Army during WWII. He was involved in conflicts in North Africa and Italy. After his discharge, he graduated from North Eastern University in Boston, MA with his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He retired from General Electric after more than 20 years of service.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Great Southern Golf Club. He also loved animals, especially dogs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Rita Occhi; parents, Louis and Victoria Occhi; sister, Eleanor Occhi; and granddaughter, Danielle Marie Occhi.
He is survived by his two sons, Louis Henry Occhi (Jill) of Woodland Park, CO, and Robert John Occhi (Gail) of Gulfport; eight grandchildren, Tony Occhi (Laura), Amanda Occhi (Greg), Dawn Rueff (David), Denise Lafferty (Todd), Daria Sharp (Myles), Deanne Goulet (Jeremy), Danique Freeman (John), Daniel Occhi (Melissa); and 21 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a private date and time. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, served the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. James Catholic Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
