IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Henry

Haller

July 30, 1941 – April 11, 2026

Obituary

Henry Haller Jr. known by most as “Skip or Skipper” passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 11, 2026. Skipper was born July 30, 1941, in New Orleans, LA. Trying to figure out his age was not required as Skip told anyone who would listen that he was 39 y/o for as long as we can remember. Skipper had two great loves- his family and his duck camp. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years, Judy Haller, his high school sweetheart.

Skip graduated from Tulane in 1963 and remained an active alumni and avid Green Wave fan throughout his life, trash talking whenever he had the chance of a win. He was a die-hard Saints fan and was thrilled to witness their Super Bowl victory.

Skip started his career, working as a district traffic manager at South Central Bell for 13 years before returning home to Gulfport, where he joined his sister in running Sportsman’s Corner, the family business started by their father. At Sportsman’s Corner, Skip outfitted countless youth organizations, high school and college athletes with uniforms, gloves, balls, and other sporting gear. His so-called “retirement” was short-lived, as he soon founded Coastal Marine Inc. where Skip got to realize his dream of mentoring many young men, digging in the dirt/mud, building bulk heads and boathouses for 15 years across the Coast.

Deeply involved in his community, Skipper was a member of several organizations, including the Rotary Club, Gridiron Club, Jaycees, United Way, and the Salvation Army. Alongside his cousin Marietta, he combined his love of family and the outdoors by helping to manage and conserve their family land and marsh in Lafitte, Louisiana—the cherished site of his duck hunting and fishing camp, the “Camp Club”. He spent countless memorable days there with his son Tim and grandson Kyle, sharing his passion for the outdoors. Just two weeks before his passing, Skip enjoyed an airboat ride with Tim, Ryan Adam, Jr and family members, making lasting memories as they toured their South Louisiana property.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Haller Sr. and Dorothy “Dotty” Webb Haller and his wife Judy Jones Haller. He is survived by his children, Terry Steckler and Tim Haller (Lisa); his grandchildren, Kyle Steckler, Jody Steckler Wilkinson (Jamie), Bailey Haller, and Kellan Haller; his siblings Patricia Haller Bunn (the late Owen Bunn) and Margaret “Peggy” Haller Crosby (Ronny); many nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law who will miss his teasing and love of family. He will truly be missed by his sister-in-law Ellen Jones, whom he got to form a very special friendship with in his last 2 years of life.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 16th at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Gulfport with visitation starting at 10:30am in the Parish Hall and services at 11:30am in the outdoor chapel. Skip was a faithful member of St. Mark’s for 50 years and the family would like any donations sent to St. Mark’s in memory of him.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, is honored to serve the family during this time.
