Henry R. Berumen, Sr., age 100, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Alvino Berumen and Patra Rodriguez; his beloved wife of 75 years, Esther Ida Berumen; his sisters, Eleanor and Consuelo Berumen; and his brother, Rudolph Berumen.
He is survived by his three children, Henry “Hank” Berumen, Jr. (Lorie Mosely) of Biloxi, MS, Jeffrey “Jeff” Mark Berumen (Kelly Rich) of Canton, GA; and Dottie Elaine Eravi of Fontana, CA; his siblings, Susan Martinez of Phoenix, AZ, and Dolores Davis (Fred) of Tolleson, AZ; his grandchildren, Holden Grey Berumen and Jennings Camp, of Canton, GA, Benjamin Taylor Berumen, of Tyler, TX, Jonathan Henry Berumen of Little Rock, AR, Marilee Elaine Sauemman (Paul) of La Verne, CA, and William Gilmer of Virginia Beach, VA; and his great grandchildren, Lela Joyce Berumen and Benjamin Taylor Berumen, Jr. , Miles Henry Berumen of Tyler, TX, Amelia Elaine, Andrew, Allistar Suernman of La Verne, CA.
Henry proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, having joined when it was still known as the Air Corps. He was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. Later, he continued his service in the Korean War, where he was awarded the Medal of Valor for his bravery. He also assisted in operations during the Vietnam War.
Henry was compassionate, caring, and loving. His family was everything to him and he worked all his life to give his family a better future. He had a wonderful sense of humor, had a great laugh and loved photography. We never heard him complain about anything or speak badly about anyone. Henry was a devout Catholic and had been a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for 51 years
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.
