Helen Marie Ferrill Waltman, 77, of Ocean Springs, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at her residence.
Ms. Waltman attended Howard II Elementary to the 5th grade, but had to quit due to family reasons. She worked as a waitress and housewife, but was always a loving mother to her children, grandchildren, and all the children she babysat for over the years, making sure her children were raised right and received the education she herself was denied. She enjoyed going to thrift store, yard sales, and visiting her children and grandchildren. She loved children so much, she babysat for anyone that needed her, and always had a house full of children. She was of the southern Baptist faith.
None of these words can even begin to cover all that mom did, lived, and achieved in her colorful lifetime, but though her life was sometimes hard, and times were lean, she never let us kids do without anything, even though she herself did. That was Mom, always giving.
Mom, I love you and thank you for everything. You will be missed.
Ms. Waltman was preceded in death by her parents, John T. Ferrill and Leila Jane Shoemaker Ferrill; her son, Michael Edwin Payne; and her siblings, John O. Ferrill, Harry Ferrill, Daniel Ferrill, Pearl Ewing, Patricia Rogers and Ann Wilson.
Survivors include her children, Debra L. Hight, Susan D. Patterson, Johnny L. Bang (Ellen Lortz), Elijah Earl Waltman and Henry Leon Shoemaker; siblings, Larry Ferrill, Dorothy Ladner and William Ferrill; six grandchildren, Charles D. Parfait, Jr., Larry E. Goff, III, Jacob D. Goff, James H. Waltman, Breanna K. Mays and Terry L. Bang; three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Faith Parfait, Charles D.
