Helen Lucie Taylor of Diamondhead, MS, passed from her earthly life on Friday, April 15, 2016. Helen was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, to Leo and Veilchen Merritt on October 25, 1928, and lived her youth in Elgin, Prince Edward Island, Canada. She met and married Dr. Maynard Francis Taylor and together they had four children, Adina, Raymond, Helena, and Paul.
For many years Helen enjoyed her career as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Medicine at the University of Miami. While there she made many lifelong friends and left a lasting remembrance as a very giving and caring person. She belonged to the Mardi Gras Krewe of Selene and was presented as their Queen on January 22, 2010, an honor that she cherished.
Helen loved life to the fullest. She was a woman of great courage and showed tremendous strength throughout the years even during the most difficult times in her life. She was always kind and generous to all. She loved her family and grandchildren and loved making them feel special. She loved going to birthday parties for the children and hosting friends and family for special gatherings, especially at Christmas. She will be missed very much and remembered with the fondest of memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. Maynard Francis Taylor, her daughter Helena Marie Taylor, and her son Paul Merritt Taylor.
Left to grieve her passing, but rejoice in her memory is her son, Raymond (Deborah) Taylor of Pass Christian, MS; her daughter, Adina V. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
