Helen Herbert

Helen Mary Herbert, age 98, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018, in Biloxi. She was a native of Shirley, Massachusetts.
Helen attended Shirley Center School and graduated from Ayer High School, Ayer, MA in 1938. She was a dedicated, loving Air Force wife who made a home for her family all over the world. She was a volunteer hospital aide, room mother, and supporter of many charitable organizations. Helen loved sports, enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and bowling in her younger years. She also loved to read and sew. In recent years, she particularly enjoyed playing the slots-win or lose. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her best friend and spouse, Francis. She lived a long, wonderful life. She was much loved and will be deeply missed by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Stefania Kurtyka; brother, Rudy Kurtyka; sisters, Amelia Gionet and Jennie Kacian.
She is survived by Francis Herbert of Biloxi, the love of her life for 73 years. They met in high school and loved for a lifetime. She is also survived by her children, Barry Herbert (Patricia), Pamela Herbert Manners, and Wendy Warren (Hoyt); 6 grandchildren, Tracy Manners Jerry (Kirk), Brian Herbert, Kristen Manners, Heather Warren Butts (Jason), Stacey Herbert, and Allison Warren Rose (Stuart); 4 great-grandchildren, Dylan Herbert, McKenna Herbert, Carter Herbert Manners, and Kaylee Gains; a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. A burial will follow the service at Biloxi National Cemetery.
