IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Claudia
Donnan
January 10, 1950 – March 19, 2026
Helen Claudia Donnan, a devoted nurse, loving wife, and cherished mother, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Born on January 10, 1950, in Worth County, Georgia, Helen lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and unyielding generosity.
Helen’s commitment to nursing spanned over two decades, a career that perfectly reflected her giving nature. After graduating from Mercer, Georgia Baptist College of Nursing in Atlanta in 1971, she embarked on a path of service that would touch countless lives. In the early 1980s, she began working at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, formerly known as the US Naval Home. Starting as a registered nurse, her leadership and compassion led to her promotion as Director of Nursing. She faithfully served the veterans and staff until the tragic impact of Hurricane Katrina, which necessitated the evacuation of the Gulfport facility’s residents and personnel to Washington, D.C. With the loss of the US Naval Home, Helen chose to retire and return to her family home in Georgia.
In 2024, Helen moved back to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to be nearer to her beloved son, continuing to nurture the bonds of family that were central to her life.
Helen was a woman of warmth and generosity, qualities that defined her both personally and professionally. She savored the simple pleasures—shopping, engaging in heartfelt conversations, visiting with friends and family, and enjoying her favorite television shows. She possessed a unique kindness, never meeting a stranger and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her proudest accomplishments were her roles as a devoted mother and wife. Those who knew her remember her as unselfish and endlessly giving.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Abner Hugh Donnan, Jr.; her children, Scott Donnan and his wife Teri; her brother Tony Bozeman and his wife Denise; her sister Suzanne Irish and her husband Michael; grandchildren Brittany Donnan and Patrick Donnan; and great-grandchild Braydyn. Her memory will forever be cherished by these close family members who treasured her guidance, love, and presence.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Florine Benson Bozeman and Claude Bozeman, whose legacy she honored throughout her life.
Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew her, yet her spirit endures in the hearts of her family and friends. Through her unwavering kindness, compassionate care, and steadfast devotion, Helen Claudia Donnan’s remarkable life will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate to know her.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, is serving the family.
