Helen Platt Crane, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Hurley and entered the gates of Heaven on January 22, 2026.

Mrs. Crane was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Roy Crane; her father, Robert Platt; her mother, Mae Belle Rigney Platt; a sister, Lena Mae McClenic; and 2 brothers, R.J. Platt and James Platt, granddaughter, Kally Slider.

She is survived by her children, Curtis (Dana) Crane, Terry (Rhonda) Crane, Rev. Brian (Sherri) Crane, and Rena (Eddie) Danley; two brothers, Alton (Judy) Platt and Gene Platt; her grandchildren, Calla (Matt) Bradshaw, Skyler (Kara) Crane, Colby (Victoria) Crane, Tyler Crane, Logan (Halie) Crane, Gavin (Kayla) Crane, Blake Danley, Colin Danley, and Connor (Grace) Crane; her great-grandchildren, Caden (Abby) Bradshaw, Lauren Crane, Cray Bradshaw, Beckham Crane, Julianne Crane, Barrett Crane, Brix Bradshaw, Braven Crane, Myles Crane, Grady Crane, Jolee Crane, Atlie Joy Crane, Brody Crane, Stella Crane, and Hartlyn Crane; a great-great-grandchild, Merritt Bradshaw; a special niece, Rhonda Parker, special friends, Linda Dearman, Jenny Woodcock, Peggy Brewer, Sharla and Shanda Holder, Sandra Little and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Crane was a native of Buckatunna, MS and has been a longtime resident of the Hurley community. She was a 1957 graduate of Pascagoula High School and continued studying to obtain her license as an LPN and was approved by the State of Mississippi Board of Nurse Examiners on April 22, 1958. She was a nurse at the Jackson County Hospital Labor and Delivery, where she helped deliver, and then transport the first newborn baby to the new Singing River Hospital in 1958. She continued her nursing career at Dr. Williams Eye Clinic, where her skills were used not only in office but also in assisting surgical procedures. Thereafter, joined Dr. Baumhauer and Dr. Donald in their practice, which later became Pascagoula Family Practice where she retired in 1996. Her nursing skills went beyond the working environment. She volunteered her time for many years as the youth camp and youth retreat onsite nurse. Although she was a Licensed Practical Nurse, she was affectionately known to many as “Dr. Crane”.

She enjoyed gardening, nursing, reading, keeping journals, and anything related to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of Three Rivers Assembly of God Church and supported the missions to provide multiple water wells in Tanzania, Africa through Call to the Nations and other organizations.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Three Rivers Assembly of God, Caswell Springs Methodist Church, Full Life Assembly of God, her amazing caregivers, Ashleigh Seal for the past year, and Becky Vice, longtime friend and constant caregiver, as well as Gina Edwards, Nicol Miles, Barbara Nelson, Paris Holloman and Regina Holloman for their tireless and loving care of our mom and family, Hospice of Light, and Sassy’s Restaurant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Three Rivers Assembly of God Expansion Project Fund, or Call to the Nations Water Wells fund. Donations may be made through Three Rivers Assembly of God Church. (please specify which Fund you wish to donate to)

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at Three Rivers Assembly of God Church, 15910 Hwy 63, Moss Point, MS 39562. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm in the church. Interment will be in Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.

Pallbearers are her eight grandsons. Rev. Brian Crane and Rev. Gene Emswiler, officiating.

The Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd, West Jackson County, is serving the family.
