Hazel Hurley Webster

Hazel Hurley Webster passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2015, at the age of 93. Mrs. Webster was born in New Orleans, LA and moved to Diamondhead, MS with her family following Hurricane Katrina.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Albert M. Webster, her parents, Chester and Eldora Hurley, and her brothers, Chester, Elridge and Alvin Hurley.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl W. Thompson (John), Cyril H. Webster (Yolanda) and Dwane D. Huderson, her sister, Vertlee H. Washington, grandchildren, Brandy Huderson, Ashley Huderson, Stephen Webster, Ryan Webster and Justine Webster, one great grandchild, Skyler Webster and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
Mrs. Webster graduated from McDonough 35 High School and Straight Business College. She was employed by Flint Goodrich Hospital as an Administrative Secretary and in 1959 joined the Orleans Parish School System as the Secretary at Medard H. Nelson School where she retired circa 1979.
Mrs. Webster was a committed and dedicated member of Brooks United Methodist Church and post Katrina, Brooks Shaw Temple United Methodist Church. Throughout her life her mantra was service. She was active in Ruth Carter Organization, World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women, and Friends of Gulfside.
A Service of Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, visitation at 10AM with service beginning at 11AM in Lawless Memorial Chapel at Dillard University, 2601 Gentilly Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70122.
The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers, in her memory to Gulfside Association Inc., P.O. Box 27, Waveland, MS 39576.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln Delisle Road in Pass Christian, MS, served the family.
