Harvey Wayne Bourne, age 61, a longtime resident of Long Beach, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in the ICU at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Harvey was born in Covington, Louisiana, and grew up along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. He attended high school in Gulfport and lived throughout all the coastal communities, including Ocean Springs and Biloxi, before making Long Beach his home. The coast was not just where Harvey lived; it was part of who he was.

Shortly after high school, Harvey began working at Cash & Carry Lumber, where he met his lifelong best friend, Mark Melton. After several years there, he started a career at Ingalls Shipyard, where he worked diligently for more than 35 years and eventually retired as a supervisor in October 2023. Harvey was proud of his work and the life he built through years of dedication and perseverance.

Family meant everything to Harvey. He was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren, who truly were the center of his world. He cherished having them over for holidays, cookouts, and family gatherings, whether planned or spontaneous. Even a last-minute babysitting visit brought him joy and warmed his heart.

Harvey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edna and Clinton Morris, Victor Reinike, and Alice Young; his father, Paul Reinike; and his uncles, Thomas Morris, Huey Penton, Chuck Lawson, and Sidney Tresch.

He is survived by his loving fiancée, Christy Sechrest; his daughter, Athena Kranz, and her husband, Jeremy Kranz; his son, Dustin Bourne, and his wife, Felicia Bourne; his stepson, Joseph Hobbs; his sister, Paulette English, and her husband, Steve English; and his grandchildren, Vera and Virginia Kranz, Charlee Murray, and Maverick and Kaitlee Bourne.

He is also survived by his niece, Deanna English; his nephew, Dwayne Reinike; and his wife, Scarlet Reinike; his aunt, Christine Quinn, and her husband, Randy Quinn; his aunts, Cora Lawson, Elaine Penton, and Cathy Cook; and many beloved cousins.

Harvey had a lifelong love for the outdoors, especially when it meant spending time with his family. Many of his happiest moments were spent hunting, fishing, camping on the islands, and enjoying long days together at the beach. When his children were young, he proudly coached Little League baseball, not just as a coach but as a devoted dad who loved being present and involved in their lives. Through every adventure, Harvey shared his knowledge, his patience, and his deep appreciation for nature, creating memories his family will forever hold close.

While family always came first, hunting season was famously “do not disturb.” It was time Harvey cherished, and his family knew it was one of the many things that brought him joy.

Later in life, Harvey found his perfect match in Christy. From the moment they met, they became inseparable. Starting as “Best” friends first, they shared similar passions for fishing, hunting, traveling, concerts, beach days, and simply doing life together. They spent the final years of his life side by side, hand in hand, facing his battle with cancer with strength, grace, and gratitude, never taking a single moment for granted.

Harvey was a “manly man” with a gentle heart, a loyal friend, a devoted partner, and someone who lived by the values of loyalty and chivalry. He loved boats, big trucks, fast cars, and above all, the people in his life.

Harvey was so strong and remarkable, overcoming obstacles and enduring a cancer battle that many could not. He fought bravely, held his head high, and never complained. When his body could fight no more, he peacefully left this world and is now free from pain and suffering.

Harvey Wayne Bourne will forever be remembered, cherished, deeply loved, and profoundly missed.
