Harry Lee Johnston, Jr., age 84, of Long Beach, passed away on February 2, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margaret Johnston, Concord, NC.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Donna Johnston; a son, Scott Johnston; both of Long Beach, MS, and his best friend, Ernest Porter, Concord, NC; neighbors and friends who were like family, Bette and Bill Johnson, and Earline and Rob Mausser.
Mr. Johnston was born in Concord, NC, graduated from the Fishburn Military School, Waynesboro, VA, attended the University of North Carolina, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He retired from Rolled Alloys, Detroit, MI and worked for Orkin Pest Control, and worked 10 years at Long Beach Pharmacy. He was HAM Radio Operator, call sign WB9UQQ, he was a civil war buff, and enjoyed stamp collecting and genealogy.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, February 8, 2017, in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Fishburn Military Academy, 225 South Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro, VA 22980, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 1301 31st Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501, or a charity of your choice.
