LCDR Harry Edward Flood, age 94, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi. A native of Dearborn, Michigan, Harry spent 38 years in Hesperia, California, before making Gulfport his home for the last 10 years.

Harry proudly devoted more than 25 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Navy. He served from 1948 until his retirement in 1973 as a Lieutenant Commander and Supply Corps Officer. Throughout his distinguished military career, he received numerous service medals in recognition of his dedication and service. Following his military retirement, Harry continued his career with Johnson Machinery in Riverside, California, where he later retired.

A man who believed deeply in service, fellowship, and community, Harry was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, the Military Officers Association of America, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, where he served as an Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed golfing, flying radio-controlled airplanes, and traveling extensively throughout the United States and around the world.

Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Shirley Ann Flood. He is survived by his children, Michael F. Flood of Hesperia, California, Linda Foreman (Randy) of Hesperia, California, and Heather Alexander (Ronald) of Victorville, California; his brother, Michael F. Flood (Barbara) of Columbia Falls, Montana; his grandchildren, Shaun Bullock (Heather), Michelle Rush (Cody), Bradley Alexander (Destiny), and Taylor Alexander (Melissa); and his great-grandchildren, Cole Bullock, Blake Bullock, Hailey Rush, Peyton Rush, Connor Alexander, Deaglan Alexander, Evalina Alexander, Freyja Alexander, Olivia Alexander, and Keira Alexander.

Harry lived a full and independent life well into his 94th year. He was devoted to his country, his family, and the organizations that were important to him. He once said that the two greatest privileges of his life were serving his country and marrying the only woman he ever loved. His dedication, adventurous spirit, and love for his family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Burial will take place at a later date at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
