Harold Earl Ferry, age 90 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Saturday, July 13, 2013, in D'Iberville.
Mr. Ferry served in the Northern Solomons and the Southern Philipines during World War Two. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Philipines Liberation with One Bronze Star and the World War Two Victory Medal.
He retired from the Boilermaker's Union as a welder in 1985. His grandson liked to say that ""Grandpa could even weld the crack of dawn and the break of day"". He and his wife Norma moved to Biloxi where he was a member and enjoyed many years of golf with his friends at Sunkist Country Club. He was a member of the South Mississippi Seniors Golf Association, the Elk's, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.
Mr. Ferry was preceded in death by his father, Louis Earl Ferry; his mother, Theresa Casper Ferry; his wife, Norma Hope Ferry; his stepmother, Anne Ferry; his daughter-in-law, Carolyn Ehrmann; a granddaughter, Kim Singer, and a grandson, Randy Ehrmann.
He is survived by his children, Walter (Anna) Ehrmann of Anaheim, CA, Judi (A.J.) McMurphy of Biloxi, and Danny (Shirley) Ehrmann of Indio, CA; his grandchildren, Bo (Lori) McMurphy of Richmond, VA, Jimmy (Jessica) McMurphy of Biloxi, David (Angie) McMurphy of Biloxi, Debbie (Marcos) Pesqueris of San Diego, CA, Tami (John) Grimes of Rocklin, CA, and Bradley (Sharon) Ehrmann of Tyler, TX; 17 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 1:30pm at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to one's favorite charity.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi, assisted the family with arrangements.
