Harold Noel Bacon, age 93, passed away on his birthday, January 11, 2014. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Bacon Rosetti (George), his granddaughter, Lisa Rosetti Majure, his great-grandson, John C. Majure, III and his sister, Florence Bacon Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Mason Bacon, his son Noel Thomas Bacon, his parents, Noel and Mae Bacon, two brothers, Carl and Lloyd Bacon and a sister, Laura Bacon Miller.
Harold was born in Cozad, Nebraska and grew up on a farm outside of Lexington, Nebraska. Following graduation from the University of Nebraska, he joined the Navy and served as an officer on the destroyer USS Glennon and then on the USS Dickson after the Glennon was torpedoed.
After WWII, Harold returned to Nebraska and pursued a career in agriculture - first as a county extension agent, then as a manufacturer and supplier of agricultural products. Later, he received a master's degree from the University of Colorado and went into banking. Harold, together with his brother Lloyd, founded the North Platte State Bank where he served as president until his retirement.
Harold gave generously of his time and talents to many civic organizations and to his church. He was one of the honorees who ""ran the barricades"" the day the government shut down. Patriotic and feisty to the end!
