Gwendolyn Lou Armstrong, 81, of Long Beach, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017.
Mrs. Armstrong was born April 11, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri to Hazel McCrary Wilson and Donald P. Raber.
She was a meat wrapper for 48 years in various grocery stores in the metropolitan areas of Kansas City, MO. She was kind hearted, generous and happy by nature and had a love for her family and friends.
Because of her avid love for animals, the family requests that you donate or volunteer in her memory at your local animal shelter.
After retiring, she relocated to Rock Hill, South Carolina, and then relocated to Long Beach, Mississippi. At the time of her passing, she was a resident at the Gulfport Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Bobby Wilson; grandson, Gregory J. Sims; and her Son-in-law, Peter J. Powell.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Smith Sims Swinton (and husband LeRoy), Sheila Smith Johnson and Regina Armstrong Powell; brother, Clyde "Butch" Wilson; grandchildren, Shonda Smith, Todd Powell (and wife Alexis), Jeremy Sims, Madison Sims, Cameron Powell, Spencer Powell, Timothy Johnson II and Angel Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Jayla Sims, Ja'shya Buford, Peyton Sims, Auna Powell, Jaxon Cannon, Audri Powell, Layla Powell and Gavin Ingram.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, MS is serving the family.
