Gwen Scott Touart

Gwen Scott Touart, aged 88, died peacefully on her birthday, May 31, 2013 at her sons' home in Gulfport, MS, after a prolonged struggle with dementia. Gwen was born May 31, 1925 in Brewton, AL, the second daughter of Rembert and Lena Scott. Gwen's family moved to Pensacola where she graduated from Pensacola High School in 1943. She married her husband, Frank E. Touart, of 47 years, in 1946. She was widowed July 17, 1993.
Gwen enjoyed gardening, exercising, especially walking with her grandchildren, playing bridge with her bridge club girlfriends, Hibernia Society activities and Mardi Gras activities. Gwen was the bookkeeper for the family Exxon business and ran the family package store until her retirement. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church for over 40 years.
Gwen lived with her husband and three sons in Pensacola, FL until 1962 when the family was transferred to Bluefield, WV. In 1964 the family was transferred to Gulfport, MS where Gwen resided until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank E. Touart, parents Rembert Scott and Lena Scott, brother Rembert L. Scott, sister Jeanette Daniels, son's Stephen S. Touart and Phillip M. Touart. Gwen is survived by her sister Ann Belleau of Pensacola, FL, son John E. Touart of Gulfport, MS, daughter-in-law Jody Touart of Gulfport, MS, grandson's John E. Touart II of Gulfport, MS, and Barry Touart of Largo, FL and granddaughter Julie Brian of Cleveland, TN. She is also survived by two great grandsons, Mark and Matthew Wayne of Long Beach, MS.
There will be a visitation held Sunday, the 2nd of June 2013 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, with a prayer service beginning at 3:00 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A reception will immediately follow the prayer service at the funeral home.
A private family graveside service will be held at 9:00 am on the 3rd of June 2013 at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
