Gregory McCleland Rice Sr., 66, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to so many, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 in Gulfport, MS. Greg was the son of Robert Lawrence Rice III and Rosemary Foretich Rice of Gulfport, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Rosie Rice and brother Robert Lawrence Rice IV.

He is survived by his son, Gregory McCleland Rice Jr., sisters Cynthia Capers (Carl), Diane Callahan (James), Debbie Parker (Wayne), Terri Rice, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Greg graduated from MacArthur High School in Houston, TX and enrolled in Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX where he received a degree in Criminal Justice. He enjoyed working with the public in sales and was a crusader for children’s online safety for over two decades.

Greg loved computer technology, photography, playing guitar and bass, HAM radio, and listening to good music by his favorite artists Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton and many others. He enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico with his dad and the memorable road trips with his beloved son to visit historically famous baseball stadiums and take in a game.

As per his wishes, Greg will be cremated and his ashes spread on the West end of Ship Island where he and his dad would always stop after a long day of fishing. A Funeral Mass and Rosary will be offered by his friend Father Cuddy of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, to be arranged in the future.
