Gregory Mitchell Gipson, of Ocean Springs, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at We Care Hospice in Moss Point at the age of 66.
He will be forever remembered by his loving family: father, Wilbert Gipson, Jr.; daughters, Stephanie Tubbs (Ronald), Ebony Nettles (Bobby) and Anna Triplett (Roscoe); siblings, Evelyn Spraggins (Larry), Steven Gipson, Gerald Gipson, Paul Gipson (Geraldine) and Michelle Gipson Williams (Larry); grandchildren, Destanie, Donovan, T'yanna, Ameeria, Jaylen, Amyria, Raqueem and Anari; and special friends, Willie White, Eugene Thomas (Magic), James Lewis, Ennis Wallace and Lenord Hughley (Jap).
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Margaret Gipson; sister, Jacqueline Gipson Hardy; and brother, Kenny L. Gipson.
Mr. Gipson graduated in the class of 1968 at E.H. Keys High School and in the class of 1972 from Jackson State University. He has worked with the Mississippi Unemployment Office, Shell Oil Company and Singing River Services. He is remembered as someone who loved baseball, fishing and traveling. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the JSU Alumni Association.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Ocean Springs Hospital, Dr. Varner, Dr. Weldon, Clarence Dubose, We Care Hospice & staff and to Macedonia Baptist Church family and friends.
A Celebration of Mr. Gipson's life will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd. at Washington Ave., Ocean Springs. Friends are invited to the reception and the gathering with the family beginning at 3:00 p.m. until the service at 5:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Elder Larry Williams, Rev. Steven Gipson and Overseer Donald L. Tubbs.
