Grady Baggett, Jr., age 96, a longtime resident of Biloxi, MS, passed away on July 2, 2025.
Born on October 26, 1928, to Grady and Myrtle Baggett of Blackman, FL, Grady (fondly known as “Junior” by his close family) spent his early years working on the family farm. After graduating from Escambia Farms School in 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After proudly serving 24 years in the military and receiving numerous honors, medals (especially the Joint Service Commendation Medal), ribbons, and commendations, Grady retired in 1972 as MSGT. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans. Grady was an active member of First Baptist Church of Biloxi, having served as a deacon and in many other capacities. He was a Master Mason and Shriner for 50+ years. Grady also had a keen interest and developed some expertise in cars, both vintage and modern-day.
A successful Realtor from 1972-2021, Grady was awarded the Realtor of the Year Award and the Martha Helm Award. Grady was a member of the Board of Directors and also the Professional Standards Committee, as well as Treasurer, of the local Association of Realtors organization; he was a member of both the Mississippi Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors.
Grady was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Shannon Claire (Creel) Baggett; parents Grady and Myrtle Baggett; brothers James, Joseph, Mikey and Connie; sister Gracie Tew; son-in-law Harley Tucker and brothers-in-law Gordon Tew, Delmas Cotton and Lonnie Price.
Grady is survived by sisters Dorothy Simmons of Orlando, FL, Elna Cotton of Crestview, FL, and Ola Lawson (James) and Rosie Price of Baker, FL; son Grady Bruce Baggett (Cynthia) of Summerville, SC, and daughters Coleen Ione Tucker and Victoria Ann Wilkinson (Bill) of Biloxi; stepsons Joe Evans (Valerie) of Madison, MS and Roger Evans (Michelle) of Long Beach; twin grandsons Grady Elmore Baggett (Courtney) and Knox Johnson Baggett (Cheryl) of Summerville, SC; granddaughters Ashley Hall (Corey) of Madison, MS and Courtney Evans (Trey Box) of Memphis, TN; great grandchildren Grady Wilson Baggett, Sonnie Elizabeth Baggett, Macie Louise Baggett and Mary Knox Baggett; and Harper and Hudson Hall; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Special thanks are extended to Lisa and Bobby Davis. The family would also like to thank Helping Hands, Saad Healthcare, Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System, caregivers at the Blake at Biloxi and caring church family, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with visitation one hour prior at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Rd. Biloxi, MS. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave. Biloxi, MS 39531.
