Gracie Lee Carr

Gulfport

Gracie Lee Carr (Taylor) of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Memorial Hospital at the age of 92. She was lovingly surrounded by her family, who will forever cherish her life and legacy.

Gracie was born on December 2, 1930, in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. She is survived by her 7 children, Nancy Sweeting, Linda Poole, Betty Ladner (Larry), Terrell Carr, Clinton Carr (Mary Ann), Kathy Easterlin (Gary), and Pastor Dan Carr (Mickey); she was “Nanny” (Grandma) to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Carr; her son Danny Carr; her daughter, Rita Gail Dill; her parents, George Taylor and Lilly Mae Taylor; and her siblings, Charlie Taylor, Billie Wayne Taylor, Vance Taylor, Jessie Taylor, Sarah Shelton, Rosie Taylor, and Martha England.

Gracie’s passion and first priority in her life for the past 40+ years was her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, with whom she is now seated in Heaven. She served faithfully in numerous ministries at Faith Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi, where she was an active member. She could always be counted on to serve in the nursing home ministry, bus ministry, cleaning ministry, baptism ministry, but most importantly, she shared the gospel with countless others through the soul winning ministry. Gracie’s most joyous and rewarding job was being a mother to her 9 children, and “Nanny” (Grandma) to her many grandchildren. There was nothing she desired more than for her family to have a relationship with Jesus and serve Him faithfully.

She was a very talented seamstress and retired from the sewing industry after many years. She continued to sew and create beautiful quilts for her family. She was an amazing southern cook and if you were ever blessed to sit at her table and enjoy a home cooked meal, you would agree. She enjoyed shopping trips with her beloved daughters and always looked forward to spending quality time with them. She lived a blessed and long life and will be deeply missed by so many.

A celebration of her life will be held at Faith Baptist Church, 8467 Canal Rd., Gulfport, MS 39503, on Saturday, November 11, 2023. The visitation will take place from 10:00-11:00 A.M., followed by the service at 11:00 A.M.  Interment will be at Allen Cemetery in Long Beach.
