Gloria Jean Mays, beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and loyal friend, passed away on May 18, 2025, in Pass Christian, Mississippi, surrounded by family and friends. Born on October 28, 1951, in Hollywood, California, Gloria lived a life filled with dedication, compassion, and a deep commitment to her community.
For several years, Gloria served as an administrative assistant at Bell Aire Baptist Church and spent many years at Grace Lutheran Church, where her contributions were invaluable. Her professional life reflected her passion for helping others and her belief in the power of community.
In her personal life, Gloria was a vibrant spirit, known for her love of travel and the joy she found in being with her family and friends. She attended Grace Lutheran Church, where she not only attended but also held a significant place in the hearts of her fellow congregants.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Harry Mays, and their two sons, Brian Mays (Ashley) and Eric Mays (Lindsey). Her grandchildren brought her immense joy, with Jackson Mays being particularly adored. She also leaves behind her brother, Fred Duncan (Sarah), her sister, Deborah Rice (Denny), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry her memory forward. A special friendship with Phyllis Lenfante enriched her life and added to her legacy of warmth and generosity.
Gloria’s memorial services will take place on June 7, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Long Beach, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM and concluding with a time to gather until noon.
Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in her honor.
