Glen Hughes

Glen Hughes, age 61, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on September 8, 2025. He was born to Carol and Gerald Hughes on April 11, 1964, in Crockett County, Tennessee. He spent his early years working at Bekaert and Caterpillar factories in Dyersburg. Glen graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin and was a Certified Public Accountant. He then went on to work for the State of Tennessee. In 2013, he began his federal career as an investigative auditor earning many prestigious awards. Glen formed a CPA tax and business consultant firm with clients across the country. All those who worked with Glen respected him as a true professional and considered him a close friend. Glen enjoyed precision rifle shooting, he was a proud Tennessee Squire of the Jack Daniel Distillery and was an avid BBQ enthusiast. He loved baseball and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan. Glen was a huge Tennessee Vols fan and loved sharing that passion with his grandchildren. Somewhere, Glen is singing Rocky Top and screaming Go Vols! But his favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren play sports, perform in band and archery competitions; he was their biggest fan.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Landon Parker Hughes. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Hughes of Gulfport, sons Andy (Shelby), Matt Hughes and their mother, Lynda Hughes of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Kevin (Jolene) and Kyle (Carrie) Boyes of Gulfport and Perkinston, Mississippi. He was the proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, Jake, Hailey, Easton, Amelia, Jaxson, Ella, Eli and Kyle. He also leaves behind his loving parents Gerald and Carol Hughes of Alamo, Tennessee, his sisters Dinah Fewell (Kenneth) of Friendship, Tennessee, and Dawn Tysinger (Jeff) of Stateboro, Georgia as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved German Shepherd, Rocky. Glen has many friends and colleagues throughout the country that will miss him dearly.

A celebration of his life and visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS 39503. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
