Gladys Johnson

Gladys Chagnard Johnson, born February 23, 1924 in New Orleans, LA, and at the age of 94, was received into the arms of our Holy Father on April 28, 2018 in Gulfport, MS. Her parents were Mamie Lafrance Chagnard and Ulyses Chagnard.
After marrying her husband, Horace Chester Johnson, she resided in Clermont Harbor, MS. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a friend to everyone in the small town of Clermont Harbor. The last 14 years she resided in Pass Christian and Gulfport. She loved to party and have a good time, and was an Icon of Clermont Harbor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers; four sisters; daughter, Doris Johnson Bates; and grandson, Daniel Rood.
She is survived by her son, Horace "Jimmy" Johnson (Faye) of Pass Christian; two grandchildren, Charles Rood (Debra) of Youngsville, LA, Amy Johnson of Pass Christian; great-grandchildren, Chris Rood (Patti), of Lafayette, LA, Kayla Moriarty (Casey) of New Orleans, LA, Tricia Rood of Dallas, TX; five great-great-grandchildren of Lafayette, LA; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at Miramar Nursing Home, Driftwood Nursing Home, and Notre Dame Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Gladys.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 5858 Lower Bay Rd, Bay St Louis, MS 39520. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the church.  . RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Rd. is serving the family.
