Gladys Brooks

Gladys Elaine Vice Brooks, age 78, of Helena, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 16, 2017 in Mobile, AL at the Carrington Specialty Care Assisted Living Facility.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin "Johnny" Brooks, Sr.; her parents, Claud and Mary Vice; and a brother, Carlton Vice.
Survivors include her children, Kim (Robert) Thielker, Cathey (Robin) Cain, and John C. "Bo" (Debbie) Brooks, Jr.; a sister, Evelyn (Delbert) Green; a brother, Bill (Gladys) Vice; 6 grandchildren, Charles (Deanna) Fuqua, John (Elizabeth) Fuqua, Matt (Erin) Thielker, Brett (Brandi) Thielker, Calvin Brooks, and Jack Cooper; 7 great grandchildren, Julia Fuqua, Trey Fuqua, Riley Grace Fuqua, Brooksly Thielker, Ireland Thielker,  Addalyn Thielker, Gavin Alexander; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mrs. Brooks lived most of her life in the Helena community and later retired from Burns Oil Company as a district manager.  She was a loving mother and friend to everyone that knew her.  Her sweet, soft voice would light up a room and her loving presence was felt by everyone.  She had a strong faith and belief in God and was always willing to share with others.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, from 1 - 3 pm at the Helena Presbyterian Church, 10301 Saracennia Road, Helena community.  The funeral service will be at 3 pm in the church.  Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Helena.
Pallbearers will be Charles Fuqua, John Fuqua, Matt Thielker, Brett Thielker, Calvin Brooks, and Jack Cooper.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Pierce, James McKinnis, Joey Smith, Michael Crawley, Bill Vice, Jr., and Jeff Vice.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Carrington Assisted Living Facility for their love and care of their mother.
