Gladys Bruce Baggett, age 84, of Gulfport, formerly of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on July 10, 2015, after an extended battle with Dementia and related health problems.
Gladys was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Bruce and Delia Bruce Brock and was reared in rural Arkansas. After graduating from High School, she worked in retail for several years prior to meeting and marrying W. C. M. Baggett, Jr., and joined him in the ministry of the United Methodist Church throughout central and South Mississippi.
Gladys was a loving wife and mother to her growing family. Her life was marked by service to others and a fierce dedication to family and friends. Gladys moved to Ocean Springs in July of 1969, just prior to Hurricane Camille, and served the church and community at the Seashore Manor Retirement Home on the beach in Biloxi. She worked at the Ocean Springs Hospital as part of the Singing River Hospital System in the Administration Office, where she served the patients, community, and staff of the hospital for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ocean Springs.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Veda Bruce and Wilma Wood; and her brother, Leon Bruce.
She is survived by siblings, W. L. Bruce of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Janet McCollough of Davidsonville, Maryland; children, Debbie (Bob) Jarvis of Memphis, TN, Cindy (Mike) Riemann of Gulfport, MS, and W.C. ""Sonny"" (Margaret) Baggett of Duluth, GA; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Katherine) Riemann, Jennifer Riemann, Jonathan (Carolyn) Baggett, Lauren Baggett (Thomas) Rogers, Peyton Baggett, Patrick (Suzanne) Jarvis, and Lanelle (Paul) Fry ; and nine great grandchildren, Jackson and Mary Katherine Riemann, James and Eliza Baggett, Gideon Rogers, Will and Camille Jarvis, and Rylee and Ashley Fry.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport at 2:00 PM, where a visitation will begin at 12:30 PM for friends.
Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seashore Highlands Methodist Senior Services, Memory Care, 12170 Highland Way, Gulfport, MS.
