Gertrude L. Pavur, a resident of Long Beach, MS, for the past eighteen years, entered into eternal life on March 7, 2016, surrounded by members of her loving family.
Born in New Orleans in 1923 at her family's restaurant (Gentilich's) at Dumaine and Rampart, Gertrude graduated from Loyola University in 1944, married Edward J. Pavur in 1949, and lived a rich, happy, and faith-filled family life, raising six children and serving the Church at Our Lady of the Rosary parish on Esplanade avenue in New Orleans. Her many services were mostly hidden, but she was happy to receive the Order of St. Louis medallion from the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Edward Pavur, Sr., her parents Nicholas Gentilich and Gertrude Crozat Gentilich, her brother, Nicholas S. Gentilich, and her daughter Elise.
She is survived by her children Edward, Jr. (Maida), (Rev) Claude, Nicholas, John (Lynne), James (Nancy), and Maria (Robert) Wood; and by seven grand-children.
A memorial mass for Gertrude will be celebrated on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 2 pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach, MS, with a visiting period beginning at 1 pm.
