""Tony"" Germain David, age 71, was born in Biloxi and was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at his home in St. Martin.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents Tony and Lillian David and also his sister Cheryl David Catchot.
Tony is survived by the love of his life, his wife Jean Thomas David. Married for 53 years and is the loving father of four: one daughter; Lisa (Bo) St. Martin, three sons; Marc (Kim) St. Martin, Jeff (Ashley) St. Martin, and Tony (Bethany) Birmingham, an incredible set of eleven grandchildren, and nine wonderful great grandchildren.
Having spent his entire lifetime on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, he built an incredible reputation for his ability to sale anything. Extremely personable with everyone he came in contact with. He spent the majority of his professional life as a Salesman. As a Salesman he would have great success handling the sales of furniture, appliances, cars, and mobile homes among others. Also known by the restaurants he owned, Porky's Po-boys, the Dairy Dream, and Jeano's Po-boys. His storied career in sales was paused momentarily in the early 80's when he served as a Deputy Sheriff for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. As much as he enjoyed his main career in sales, this brief time in his life in law enforcement would forever serve as his favorite time period and viewed it as not only an opportunity to protect, but also to help those in need.
Actively involved in the community, he would play a key role in fund raising efforts helping to add air conditioning to St. Martin East Elementary School for the first time in its history. He would spend countless hours in the youth sports world at St. Martin in Pee Wee Football and Baseball with organization of the leagues and teams involved. He was active in post Katrina efforts and came to know the Lord in 2006 and is a member of Lemoyne Blvd Baptist Church. In the 70's, he was a member of the Lion's Club and often called Bingo in the local hall. He played key roles in numerous other fund raising events for the community.
Since becoming ill, there has been a wonderful outpour of love and support by family, friends, doctors/nurses, and Lemoyne church members. He was blessed to have the opportunity for many to share their love and compassion for him. Tony will be forever remembered by family, friends, and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was always a strong man and displayed that strength up to his last day, which was such an inspiration to his family.
