Geraldine Louise "Gerri" Shiflett

Geraldine ""Gerri"" Louise Shiflett, 89, passed away August 14, 2014 in Long Beach. She was born in Carlisle, PA. She worked as a switchboard operator at what was then known as the Naval Gun Factory, now the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. She went on to work for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co, a division of AT&T also in Washington. Mrs. Shiflett moved to Biloxi in 1981 after retiring from the telephone company. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed for her wonderful stories and touched so many lives.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Hewitt; son, Curtis Halter; daughter, Harriet Jones; granddaughter, Kelly Forrester.
She is survived by daughters, Yvonne Brady and Karen Shiflett Castillo (Emilio); brother, Downs E. Hewitt; grandchildren, Jennifer, Tricie, Jessica, Lynard, Stephanie, Bryan, C.J., Kari; 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 1:00pm from the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. Visitation will be 5:00 till 9:00pm Monday, August 18 at the funeral home.
In lieu flowers memorials can be made to the local charity of the donor's choice.
