Gerald L. Robertson

December 12, 1941 — February 5, 2023

Diamondhead

With much sorrow, Gerald L. Robertson, age 81, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, after a brief illness.

Jerry was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. Reared by his beloved grandmother, he learned early about a stellar work ethic and how to stretch a dollar. He graduated from Warren Easton High School and joined the Army National Guard at 118 lbs, soaking wet with a rock in each hand, where he served his time as a Battalion Clerk to his Commanding Officers. Yes, he really was Radar from M*A*S*H; just as inept and goofy too.  He learned to get along, become proficient, took a good ribbing from his fellow soldiers, yet learned to give as good as he got.

He was honorably discharged, married and settled in the surrounding areas of New Orleans. He spent his years as a building engineer working as Kaiser and the State. He was an avid runner, enjoyed music concerts, baseball, football, and golf. He loved to work, to travel, and loved the good friends he made along the way. He shared many a story about it all, each one more hilarious than the last. Quick witted with a spirited sense of humor, he seldom missed an opportunity to show off his Irish temper.  Suffice it to say, he was spry and sharp as a tack until the day he passed.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Robertson; and his brother Lloyd Robertson.  He will be missed by his cousins, Pamela (Lance) Heidinger and Robbie (Patty) Robertson, and several lifelong friends and his adopted daughter, affectionately known as “The Bug”.

The family would like to thank the Ochsner Oncology team at Hancock Medical Center and Riemann Family Funeral Home for handling our needs during this time.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, Pass Christian is serving the family.
