Gerald Barrilleaux

d. March 3, 2018

Gerald Gerard Barrilleaux Sr., passed away on March 3, 2018 at the age of 88. He was a native of South Louisiana, but has lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for over 30 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 17 years, Sherry Dupre Barrilleaux; his son, James Evans Barrilleaux; his sister, Rosemary and brother-n-law, Charles Boudreaux; and his parents, Laurence and "Pete" Barrilleaux. He was born and raised in Franklin Louisiana and continue to reside in south Louisiana for many years. Being a sports fisherman, he often referred to these times as "living in God's country".
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Helena Fanguy Barrilleaux.  They enjoyed the last 18 years living in the country on a lake.  Surviving children include: Jayne Barrilleaux Verret (Mark), Jerry Barrilleaux (Delores), John Barrilleaux, Jill Barrilleaux Bridenbaker.  Surviving step-children include John, Jerry, Mike, Tommy, Gordon and Marie Mc Adams, Shirley Ladner (Mike) and Sandra Roberson (Eddie).  He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 33 step-grandchildren, and eight step-great grandchildren.
Gerald served a 10 year term with the National Guard where he became a sergeant. He had a 40 year career in managing personal loans with various finance companies located in both Louisiana and Mississippi.  He was a huge fan of all sports and enjoyed watching the LSU Tigers with pure excitement. We often joked that he was such a fan that he bled purple and gold. He was also a loyal follower of the New Orleans Saints keeping up with all the players names and stats. He was a lover of all things Cajun cooked: boiled shrimp, crawfish and crabs were his favorite.
Gerald was a member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church for many years and served whenever he was able. He was a member of the Kawana's club and was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Lizana Mississippi.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11 AM at Saint Ann's Catholic Church, 23529 Highway 53 Gulfport Mississippi.  There will be no graveside service at this time.
