Georgia Beatrice Sawyer was born 4/26/1922 in New York and died 8/15/2017, in Pass Christian, a life time spanning almost a century. She always said she had a full happy life as she traveled through most of her 95 years with her husband, Norman. They were separated upon his death (2013) and are now joined together again, leaving behind three children; Pam (Jim) Wyatt, Suzanne (John) Hagen and David (Karen) Sawyer. Her love was her family and her success and happiness were measured by their successes and happiness. She was always there to encourage and provide support if needed.
In addition to raising three children and running the household she was able to find time to volunteer for causes she believed in. During the War effort, while her husband was overseas, she volunteered with the Red Cross. She assisted with Scouting programs for her children and later volunteered in her home town hospitals as a "Pink Lady." She loved living in the South, both in Texas with its flowers and Mississippi with its warm Gulf water and Live Oak trees. Traveling the country in their RV with her husband was always a joy only exceeded by the return to her home.
Georgia was always a quiet soul, never desiring the praises she so justly deserved. She always wanted to pass along something of value to her children, and the most valuable gift of all was her example of being a good person.
Her devotion to family, as wife, mother, and homemaker makes her forever, the recipient of our never ending love.
We wish to express our special thanks and gratitude for the gentle and kind care provided by the staff of the Dixie White House during her last days. We will always be gratefull.
Her ashes will be interred in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tyler Texas in a private ceremony.
