George J. Taylor, age 95 of Biloxi, peacefully entered heaven's pearly gates on October 1, 2018. He will forever be admired for modeling a life that radiated dignity, respect, and honor. His life is a living testament of an admirable man who dearly loved God, his country, wife, and his family.
George was born on July 12, 1923. He graduated from Woolmarket School. With great honor, he served in the U.S. Army, 55th General Hospital Unit. George proudly served in World War II as an ambulance driver. After WW II, he met the love of his life, Margie Haygood. Together, they enjoyed 69 years of marriage and celebrated the birth of their only child Wayne Taylor.
George worked for 34 years at the Veteran's Administration as a foreman in the Carpenter Engineering Department. He volunteered as a reserve Harrison County Deputy and Woolmarket firefighter. George was a member of Coalville United Methodist Church, a Master Mason and member of Orange Grove Lodge #635, a Shriner and member of Joppa Shrine where he served in the Provost Guard.
George was preceded in death by his wife Margie Taylor; parents Charley and Mae Taylor; sisters, Margaret Tompkins, Pauline Taylor, and Dessie Plomb; brothers, Doug Taylor and Charles Taylor; and a great grandson, Landon Rodriguez.
He is survived by his son, Wayne (Patricia) Taylor; sister, Whitney Taylor; grandchildren, Troy (Kristi) Taylor, Brian (Jalena) Taylor, Ashley Taylor; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Peyton, Laney, Emma Kate Taylor and Ty Bostwick; and a special lady he considered his own daughter, Sandra (Billy) Orr.
As a family, we thank the staff of Azalea Gardens Nursing Center for the wonderful care given to George.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Coalville United Methodist Church, Biloxi, with a visitation for family and friends from 10:00 AM until the service. Burial will follow at Coalville Cemetery.
