George Dewitt Prine, formerly of Long Beach, MS peacefully left his earthly home in Milton, FL to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 17, 2015.
Born to William Dewitt and Beatrice Williams Prine in Bond, MS on May 14, 1934, George was blessed to have lived a full life of 80 years with the gift of a heart transplant on August 8, 1994.
With his sweetheart and bride of 54 years by his side, he began his lifelong career as in electrical engineer. George's service to his country in the US Navy and education from University of Alabama provided the opportunity of travel and employment with Sears, Rocketdyne, General Dynamics and Computer Service Corporation at Stennis Space Center.
After the passing of his beloved Nell in 2011, he took a new bride Janis Goolsby Baker-Prine, in December of 2012. George was loved much and respected highly by his new extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nell, and in-laws, Wiley and Sarah Pettis.
George is survived by his wife, Janis; his son, Alan and daughter in law, Rita Prine, of Long Beach; grandsons, Justin (Micah) Prine of Round Rock, AZ, and Patrick Prine (Selina Silvas) of Austin, TX; granddaughter, Sarah of Long Beach, MS; great grandchildren, Lucas and Kaylee Prine. He is also survived by his step-son, Bruce Baker; stepdaughter, Melody (Sean) Lee and their daughters, Meredith and Sebrena, all of Florida. Also sisters, Meada Jones and Jane (Felder) Bond; brothers, Paul (Shirley) Prine and Lee (Gaby) Prine; brother-in-law, Bob Pettis (Jeanenne) and Marueen Pettis. Included among his survivors are beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, former co-workers and church families of First Baptist Church of Long Beach, MS and First Baptist Church of Milton, FL.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 23, 2015 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach, MS from 10am - 12:00pm . Dr. David Spencer and Dr. LaRue Stephens will conduct a funeral service at noon in the funeral home chapel. A funeral procession will follow to Biloxi National Cemetery, where George will be laid to rest with his beloved Nell.
