George Edward Holetz

George Edward Holetz of Diamondhead, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in Biloxi at the age of 87.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Edward Holetz and Gertrude "Patricia" Holetz; his father-in-law, Fred E. Gondrella; mother-in-law, Annie Serita Gondrella; brother-in-law, Frederick Harry Gondrella, Sr., and sister-in-law, Janet Sexton.

George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly Ann Holetz; children, George E. Holetz III, Joan Landers (Richard), David Holetz (Patty), and Christopher Holetz; siblings, John Holetz (Patricia), Patricia Holetz Buchanan (Bill); grandchildren, Nicholas Landers (Nicole), Ashley Holetz (George Dupuis), George E. Holetz IV, Brittni Landers (Douglas Chessen), Hannah Graham (Jeff), Danielle Landers, Zoë Holetz (Michael Ballio), Matthew Holetz, Matěj Dittmann and Alžběta Dittmannová; and his great-grandchildren, George Dupuis II "Z", Beverly Dupuis, Michael Ballio III "Tripp", Archer Landers, and River Landers; along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was a native of Modesto, California, and a resident of Diamondhead, Mississippi. George joined the Air Navy when he was 17 and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Expert Rifleman Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and many other decorations and medals. He had many assignments that took him all over the United States and the world. He retired as Master Chief Holetz. After his retirement from the Navy, George worked as a safety officer and inspector.

George was an avid marksman who enjoyed swimming, singing, traveling, and rock artistry with the Gem and Mineral Club. He was a dedicated member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he served in the choir, the Knights of Columbus, and the NRA.

George's love for his wife, family, church, and country guided his path throughout life. He will be greatly missed by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning 1 hour prior at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Pass Christian. Interment will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Biloxi National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in George's honor to the Most Holy Trinity Education Fund: Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln-DeLisle Rd, Pass Christian, Mississippi 39571.
