George "Mickey" Hearn

d. October 20, 2016

George ""Mickey"" Hearn, age 68, of Gulfport, passed away on October 20, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Harold Hearn, a brother, Robert Stanley Hearn, and a sister, Sherry Cupit Darnell.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Morgan Hearn, 4 children, Ryan (Dawn) Hearn, Morgan Hearn, Amber Hearn (Eric) Spurgeon, and Lauren Hearn (Barret) Biandis, 7 grandchildren, Tyler, Haley, Brennon, Jaren, Sinclaire, Brianna, and Sutton, his mother, Dorothy Wood Lindsay, a sister, Lynn Wood Moore, a brother, Ray Wood, and other relatives and friends.
Mickey was born 1948 in Laurel, MS., and a graduate of R.H. Watkins High School. Mickey and his wife, Gail Morgan, and their four children, lived in Laurel until 1987. They then relocated to Nashville and in 1990 moved to Gulfport.
Mickey, a veteran of the Vietnam War, served in the U.S. Marine Corp., 3rd Battalion 26th Marine Division, where he received two Purple Hearts, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and other medals of commendations during the siege of Khe Sanh.
After his military service, he spent 30 years in the transportation and moving industry. He later became a Regional Sales Representative for Electric Mobility selling durable medical equipment to the VA hospitals across the south until his retirement.
Friends and family called him Mickey, and all 7 grandkids called him Papaw. Regardless of what you called him, Mickey was a wonderful and loving husband to his wife of 49 years Gail, and the best father anyone could ask for to his 4 children Ryan, Morgan, Amber, and Lauren. There was never a shortage of hugs and kisses for each one of his grandchildren and they all made sure to come give Papaw some love anytime they were around him. Mickey was warm, loving, and he always made everyone feel welcome. The only thing bigger than his heart and personality is the void that is left within all of us now that he is gone. Everyone that knew and loved Mickey will carry with them the memory of his bright smile, big heart and boisterous laugh, and for this we can all be thankful. We can only hope that small part will be enough to lessen the void that has been left in his passing.
