George Paul
Farmer
Dec 10, 1930 — May 21, 2026
MSgt George P. Farmer, U.S. Air Force, Ret, age 95 of Gulfport, MS went home to be with his Lord on May 21, 2026, while surrounded by his loving family. George was born in southern Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dozier and Mary Farmer; his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Farmer; and siblings, Dicie Ingram, Icey Wade, Tressie Ishee, John and Herbert Farmer.
He is survived by his son, Harold Farmer and daughter Paula (Tommy) Sones; grandchildren, Crystal (Zach) Alexander, April (Brad) Miller and great-grandchildren, Aaralyn, Faith, Gage, Carmyn, Ty, Jeremie, Airionna and D.J. along with an expected great-great-grandson, Waylon and numerous nieces and nephews. George is also survived by his sister, Ida Hickman and brother, David Farmer.
George’s career included serving in the Army for a short time. After marrying Barbara, he enlisted in the Air Force where he worked on Aircraft radar and instrumentation systems while logging many flight mission hours. Stationed first in California, he was deployed to various countries during that time. Next, the family was stationed in Australia for over 3 years. After Australia, the family was transferred back to California. Many family memories were made of adventures in Australia and California. After 20 plus years, he retired from the Air Force and started a new career at Stennis Space Center, where he contributed to the maintenance and testing of space shuttle engines.
George immensely enjoyed being with family and took every opportunity to let family know how much he loved and cherished them. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a remarkable person with a gentle kindness and compassion that touched many, many lives. He was genuinely happy to help anyone he could, frequently asking if there was anything he could do or help with. Smart, and a natural problem solver, he could analyze and fix just about anything.
George and Barbara were always ready to pray and believe or stand in the gap for anyone in need and he continued that practice after Barbara had gone home to be with the Lord. He lived his deep love for Christ every hour of every day and his number one goal was to make sure everyone he came in contact with knew about Jesus.
George will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his unconditional love, giving spirit and his passion to share the love of Christ. What a testimony he was to all who had the privilege of knowing him
